I considered not touching this one with a 10 ft. pole, but I must confess that I love Thug Kitchen. It's absolutely vulgar in every sense of the word. The vegan recipes are so bloody good. Too bad it's cultural appropriation for profit, SMDH.
I'd like to think cultural appropriation would be easy for me to grasp, but, admittedly, I have a hard time getting my head around it sometimes. Seems pretty cut and dry, but here I am, guiltily liking TK. Race and culture is fucking complicated + confusing. This is no exception. I think I'll pass on book purchase and just stick to the website for the goods. Thoughts?

@boleroid: Damb, that's a beautiful cookbook. Have you performed from it yet?
100% solid gold hits out of this cookbook. We were intimidated at first (metric! that binding! weird veggies we can't get here!) but once we realized that the recipes are all super simple and about not fucking up good ingredients by overdoing it, we relaxed. it also introduced the spritz, which has been a summer staple.
it is expensive though. $50.
